The Facility Performance Index (FPI) is a methodology for determining occupant requirements for facilities and for rating the capability of facilities (or facility designs) to meet property's required maintenance levels. FPI is based on the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) Standards on Whole Building Functionality and Serviceability which has been established as a standard procedure for rating facility performance. This standard is currently used by many private sector and government organizations in North America, Europe and other parts of the based on the ASTM Standards on Whole Building Functionality and Serviceability. It is a process for rating building performance and by comparing any building's attributes to its user requirements. Based on the concept of Demand and Supply, the application of this index determines how well a building will meet the needs of its occupants using a wide range of topics, ranging from cleanliness to security; cabling to employee amenities.
